The Social Media team’s mission is to grow The Climate Mobilization’s social media presence, consistently grow and engage our online audience, activate followers to support our organizing efforts, and build awareness of the inadequacy of gradualist approaches to the climate crisis and the need and viability of emergency climate mobilization.

Responsibilities

• Create content for TCM’s Facebook and Twitter accounts in a consistent and engaging voice
• Communicate TCM news and announcements
• Monitor breaking climate-related news and social media conversations, craft creative and responsive social media posts and memes that illuminate key TCM positions in real time
• Provide strategic guidance and project management support in developing social media advocacy campaign plans from start to finish, including project intake, campaign development, content scheduling, launch/execution, quality control, and reporting back
• Monitor TCM’s social media engagement metrics, strategize what is and isn’t working to engage followers and grow audience reach
• Facilitate live social media coverage of on-the-ground events, such as town halls, marches, and protests, through livestreams and posts, or finding and sharing live posts from people on the ground

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience and ease working with social media, strong understanding of Facebook and Twitter posting norms
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Commitment to TCM’s message of truth, urgency and inclusiveness
• Ability to absorb and communicate TCM materials, positions on climate science and policy
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• A sense of humor and strong meme game wouldn’t hurt!
