Sheltering Tree strives to promote healthy & meaningful leisure lifestyles among core members. We are looking for caring, energetic volunteers willing to assist core members as they pursue leisure activities & inclusive opportunities.
Transportation is a great barrier for adults with developmental disabilities. While resources are available for medical and employment purposes, individuals rarely have resources to accessible and affordable transportation to/from leisure activities. We have opportunities to assist in transporting groups of core members to/from community activities (e.g. plays, community center, zoo, movies).
We also have opportunities for community volunteer to teach or share hobby/skill to our members(e.g. singing, playing instruments, woodworking, sewing, arts, etc) or to join along in our on-going activities.

The purpose of housing initiated by Sheltering Tree, Inc. is to create affordable, quality, home-like environments in apartment style communities with secure & supervised living to help adults with developmental disabilities achieve maximum independence, lead productive & fulfilling lives, build friendships, belong to and contribute to the greater community in which they live.
Description
Sheltering Tree provides supervision to adults with developmental disabilities in an independent apartment community. Additionally, Sheltering Tree strives to coordinate meaningful leisure & recreation activities and inclusive community trips to improve the quality of life of core members.
