Volunteer Opportunity:
2018 St. Patrick’s Day Run - March 17 th, 2018
Not racing but love to be part of the action? The YMCA would not be able to host this event without the help of great volunteers like you! Help is needed both on and off the course.
This event is a fun and festive way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2018! This year is special because the race is actually on St. Patrick’s Day. A very rare occurrence. There are two opportunities to volunteer; Packet Pick up and Day of Race. Like many races there will be Packet Pick-up that will occur the day before the race on March 16 th from 3 - 7pm at Bandanna Running and Walking (504 W. Main Street). Then on race day we are needing helping hands from 8:00am - 1:00pm. The St Patrick’s Day Run has 3 distances for runners; 1 Mile Leprechaun Loop, a 5K and a 5 Mile. All distances start at the Julia Davis Park Band Shell. This event has plenty of great areas that you can support the runners at:
We are looking for volunteers to help in the following areas:
Packet Pickup (5 volunteers needed)
- Helping participants receive their bibs and packets.
- Distributing racer t-shirts after racers have picked up their packets
Day of Race Packet Pickup (5 volunteers needed)
-Helping participants receive their bibs and packets at late packet pickup
Starting Line Set up (5Volunteers needed)
-Setting up flagging, banners, tents, scaffolding in the race area.
Course Cheer Boosters and Road Guards (15 volunteers needed)
-Cheering on and making sure all runners know where they are going and to assist in course monitoring.
Award Distribution (2 volunteers needed)
-We have many categories for runners to place on the podium. Be the one to congratulate them and give them their awards and medals.
Refuel Station (3 Volunteers needed)
- Be there to hand runners some fuel to replenish their tired muscles.
Post-Race Take Down (10 volunteers needed)
-Taking down race equipment, course material and cleaning up race area
Water/Aid Stations (5 volunteers needed)
-Providing water to runners throughout the course.
Thank you for considering the YMCA this New Year!
