King Conservation District, Forterra, and the City of Redmond are partnering together on new pilot Neighborhood Steward program, and you can be a part of our work! Get your hands dirty and come out to volunteer at Redmond’s East Valley Heights Natural Area. Continue the great work already started by volunteers, and help us remove invasive weeds in order to restore the health of these forests.
Everyone can help! All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all of the tools and training needed. So bring along your friends and family and get your hands dirty!
If you’re interested in volunteering or would like more information, please email Nicole Marcotte at nmarcotte@forterra.org or call 206-905-6924!

Mission Statement
Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.
Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
