ORGANIZATION: Break A Difference

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Break A Difference mobilizes the passion and energy of committed young adults into service to local communities through our signature Alternative Spring Break programs. Through a shared cost program, volunteers pay their own way to commit an entire week to volunteer in local communities across the country. The San Francisco project brings hundreds of student volunteers to the San Francisco Bay Area and engages them in service projects that address hunger and homelessness, youth development, and environmental stewardship. Break A Difference, joined by local volunteers, keeps costs low while providing a high-touch, high-quality program. To deliver programming of the highest caliber and to ensure everything runs smoothly, we draw on the dedication and contribution of local volunteers with some key roles.

BAY AREA VOLUNTEER ROLES:

  • Shuttle Drivers: Assist our Site Team by driving one of our minivans to the local airport to pick up incoming Break’rs or to drop off returning Break’rs at the end of their ASB. In addition to providing much needed transportation, volunteers provide a local context and help to connect Break’rs to your community.

  • Welcome Ambassadors: Either accompany shuttle drivers to the airport to meet incoming Break’rs or assist with registering Breakr’s as they arrive on the Break Campus. Potentially provide insights and tours of the community to incoming Break’rs.

SCHEDULE:

Volunteers are sought primarily on Saturdays and Sundays for 3-6 hour shifts beginning at 8 AM (depending upon Break’rs’ schedules and the program needs, which vary by site).
