We need experienced knitters to make faux-feather boas to give to kids with cancer!
The For a Day Foundation creates childhood experiences for patients receiving treatment in the hospital through play therapy programs: Queen for a Day & Hero for a Day.
In the Queen for a Day program, we give real tiaras, feather boas, and mini-makeovers/manicures to the kids. The feather boas are sometimes scratchy and uncomfortable, so we're looking for softer and safer alternatives.
This is where knitting can help! Using feather-like yarn (eyelash yarn!), we're hoping you can make these soft items to replace our messy, itchy ones.
This is a new endeavor for us, so we'd love your input on selecting the best pattern, sourcing reasonable materials, and creating a national network of knitting parties to support our Queen for a Day parties.
We need about 300 a year, so there's vast opportunity to make a difference!
