Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee is in need of volunteers who are interested in Defending the Potential of youth in our community through one-to-one, professionally supported mentoring relationships.
School-based Mentoring volunteers (Bigs) meet one hour weekly with a child (Little) in a structured school setting in Milwaukee or Waukesha County. Bigs and Littles focus on academic achievement, recreational activities, and emotional development. They are matched based on similar interests and personalities. At each site, staff provide oversight, planned activities, direct match support, and outcome measurement!

Description
You have a big opportunity in front of you - to not only impact a child’s life today, but to transform their potential for tomorrow. While things are uncertain, one thing is for sure, our child waitlist continues to grow! We are still looking for volunteers to mentor local youth and have altered our enrollment process to allow for virtual interviewing and training.
Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring program offers three unique one-to-one options: 1) Community-based mentoring, 2) School-based mentoring, 3) mentor2.0. In each, volunteers make a minimum two year commitment to mentoring a child; engage with their mentee 3-4 times per month; and provide role modeling, friendship, and guidance to increase positive youth outcomes.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee develops positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Our mentoring program is proven by independent research to help children who face adversity succeed in and out of school. We hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving three priority youth outcomes-educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, and social skills such as higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships.
