Join Friends of the Mississippi River volunteering at the annual Minneapolis Earth Day Cleanup!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Mississippi River

Taking place just off of West River Parkway, this cleanup has become an Earth Day tradition in the Minneapolis River Gorge. People come from throughout the local river corridor, neighborhoods and metro area - individuals, families, small church, corporate and student or scout groups - to celebrate Earth Day and contribute to the health and vitality of the Mississippi River.

This is a family-friendly event providing an excellent opportunity to get outside and work together to help improve this treasured area. We've returned to this site year after year and have noticed a dramatic improvement in the area thanks to dedicated volunteers like you!

To participate at a Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) hosted site, simply show up at either E 36th St & W River Parkway or E44th St & W River Parkway at or after 9:30 a.m. to sign-in with FMR staff. We'll provide all of the supplies, however, if you have your own gloves feel free to bring them along. Sturdy shoes are strongly suggested as well as dressing for the weather - layers are encouraged.

Registration is not required for this event.

Got a group or question? Please contact Amy at FMR for more detaills!

Mission Statement

Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) engages people to protect, restore and enhance the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities region.

Description

Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to work with roughly 3,000 volunteers annually.

We keep volunteering simple, fun and satisfying -- there are no applications, and you can sign up for one event or several. We list events especially in need of volunteers here on VolunteerMatch.com, but maintain a full calendar of 60+ events a year at www.fmr.org/events.

Our project work includes conservation and restoration of natural areas and habitat, education on watershed protection issues, and organizing activities that connect the public to the Mississippi River.
