The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.

Volunteers can choose in advance which Saturdays (and how many) they’re able to work.
Volunteer Saturday mornings (you can choose how often) at our CalFresh booth at the Country Club Plaza Certified Farmer’s Market. Clients trade food stamp credits for scrip the farm vendors accept in payment. You scan the EBT (food stamp) card, hand out the scrip, accept scrip back from the farm vendors and log entries. Sit in the shade, help nice people, and enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of the market. It takes just a bit of training to learn how to run the machine and handle the paperwork. We offer two time commitments, 7:50-12:30 pm or 10 am - noon. Visit our CalFresh booth page http://grace-sacramento.org/farm-to-every-fork/calfresh-booth for more information.
