Share your Saturday mornings with us and help serve a healthy and hearty breakfast to people in need in the South San Francisco community. Breakfasts are served on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

Our bi-monthly breakfast program ensures that people have a place to get a hot and nutritious breakfast and enjoy some conversation and connection with our friendly volunteers and Salvation Army staff.

Our specific needs are for:
- cooks (amatuers welcome!);
- servers;
- security;
- greeters.

Breakfast is served between 9am - 10:30am on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. The menu typically includes egg, sausages, pancakes, coffee and other items.

Volunteers arrive at 7:30am (cooks) or 8:30am (servers, greeters and security). Volunteers under 16 years of age must be supervised by an adult.

This can be one-time volunteer opportunity, or ongoing. Ongoing volunteers (who serve more than 20 hours in a year will need to undergo a background check and Salvation Army additional training).

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need in His name without discrimination.

Description

The Salvation Army was established in London in 1865, and since 1883 has been serving the San Francisco Bay Area, offering practical support, spiritual comfort and a critical safety net to people in need. The safety net is funded in part by donations from the Red Kettle Campaign which started in San Francisco in 1891. Nearly 600,000 San Franciscans receive assistance from the Army annually through a range of social services; clothing and shelter for the homeless, food for the hungry, opportunities for underprivileged children, alcohol rehabilitation, transitional housing, nutritional and housing support for seniors and relief for disaster survivors. For every dollar donated to The Salvation Army, 82 cents is used to support those services in the 16 facilities throughout San Francisco and South San Francisco communities.
