About

mentor2.0

Colorado Springs CO
Big Brothers Big Sisters - Pikes Peak

Mentor2.0 matches high school students from Atlas Preparatory School with college-educated volunteer mentors in the Colorado Springs community.

The mentors provide the students with support, advice and guidance through their high school career to prepare them for college and the workforce.

The majority of the mentorship is done over a secure online platform (iMentor), as a "pen pal mentorship" - this allows for busy professionals to flex their time-investment around their schedules. In addition, there are monthly events for in-person mentoring, hosted at Atlas Preparatory School and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters. These events are group events, to which all the mentors and mentees of a particular class attend.

Volunteers must be 21 years of age and have the equivalent credit hours of a two-year degree.

Volunteers must also be willing to commit to the program for four years, as we try to make matches from freshman year through graduation. We want the students to have an example of consistency and commitment in their lives.

Presently, Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak is trying to finishing matching the current freshman class students each with a mentor. We are close to completing that goal, but still need about 15 more volunteers. There are students who have been waiting all school year to be matched with a mentor. Please consider volunteering!

In the spring, we will begin campaigning to recruit volunteer mentors for the upcoming freshman class, which will be a huge feat to accomplish. We estimate that we will need anywhere between 120 and 140 mentors for that class (roughly a 50/50 split of male and female).

If you know of anyone else who may be interested in volunteering with this program, please refer them to us.
