Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the lives of others and at Promise Kept volunteers are always needed! It is rewarding, great exercise, and looks good on a resume! Training is provided and we welcome those aged 13 and up to do a variety of rewarding tasks (see below) at the farm. Come by yourself or bring a group.
MAIN volunteer duties:
- Groom horses and ponies
- Walk a horse during therapy
- Assist riders during therapy
Therapy volunteers should be age 13 and up, horse experience NOT necessary!
Great volunteer opportunity for families!
We are putting together our 2018 schedule which will include 3 Saturdays a month 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.. You do NOT need to commit to every Saturday session; we appreciate any/all time you are able to commit to!

Description
Equine-assisted activities and therapies have long been recognized as being beneficial to those with physical, mental, and behavioral impairments. Horseback riding improves core strength, speaking ability, confidence, and balance.
Promise Kept is providing therapy through its partnership with Pine Lake Pastures. Their gentle, well-trained horses and peaceful atmosphere are ideal.
Promise Kept offers therapeutic riding sessions lasting approximately 45 minutes to one hour, depending on the needs and desires of the rider.
We accept riders as young as 2 years old. For the very young or those with poor muscle control or balance, we offer an experienced person riding behind them on the horse, providing safety and security. We have many different size horses and saddles available to accommodate riders of almost any size and ability.
