Summary:
Volunteers will assist in various roles at the Ohio Village Opening Day event, held in Ohio Village, focused on the mosaic of arts and culture that make up Ohio. Our opening day this year focuses on a 1890's style carnival - featuring some aspects of a side show - strong man/woman; fortune tellers, dancer of mystery, 19th century style clown, cabinet of curiosities and more.
Roles:
Roles will be assigned. Volunteers must be open to work any role. We are willing to make role accommodations.
Village green game assistant
Car Assistant
Tricycle Assistant
Horse and Wagon Assistants
Beverage assistants
Costumed volunteers
Cotton Candy sales
Emporium sales assistants
Gatehouse assistants
Various roles
Skills Required:
Language Skills: Be able to answer visitors questions
Mathematical Skills: If selling Cotton Candy, must be able to handle monetary transactions
Technical Skills: If needed, may need to use walkie-talkie.
Time Commitment:
Saturday, May 26 9:30am-5pm
Available to give at least 4 hour shifts
Work Environment:
You will be working in an outdoor historic village. Our anticipated audience (families) could be over 800 people. You will be assisting with logistics for up to 30-40 vendors. You have to be comfortable working with large crowds.
Physical Demands:
Lots of walking and moving around to assist our vendors. May need to move some light weight 6 ft. tables. This is an outdoor event so you may need to work in inclement weather
Age Requirement:
14 and up
21 and up (beer and soda sales)
