Seeking volunteers to assist in a K-8 after-school program on the following early release days: 3/7/18, 3/21/18, 4/4/18, 5/9/18, 5/23/18, and 6/6/18. Responsibilities include supervising students in gross motor play outdoors and/or in the gymnasium, assisting with the facilitation of games or arts and crafts activities, assisting with snack and escorting students to the restroom, and assisting with homework and reading.

Volunteers are expected to arrive at 11:45 to consult with the site coordinator and review the day's schedule and students arrive to the program at 12:00. Programming runs to 5:30 - volunteers are expected to stay until 2:30, but welcome to stay through 5:30.

Volunteers can assist one time, or commit to all early release days for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year .

Description

Community Schools provides after school and out-of-school time care in all eight Somerville Public Elementary schools and operates Monday-Friday from school day dismissal to 5:30pm. The program provides safe, structured and developmentally appropriate activities for students designed to support the District meet its vision of developing the whole child. It is our charge to provide high quality, affordable after school and out-of-school time care to Somerville families from Pre-K through grade 5. Students are offered a variety of hands-on enrichment activities, homework help and/or tutoring, choice time and a nutritious snack daily provided by Somerville Public School Food Services.
