Seeking music volunteers for hospice patients
ORGANIZATION: Heartland Hospice
Please visit the new page to apply.
Studies show that music can help persons afflicted with terminal illness in various ways such as pain control, anxiety reduction, comfort, spirituality, quality of life, and energy levels. Local hospice is seeking volunteers that can play a variety of instruments and/or have singing talent to make a difference in the lives our patients and families. The volunteers may also have opportunity to bring joy and improve quality of life to patients in local nursing homes this hospice works with by performing music for the residents. A working vehicle is required for travel to different patient homes or nursing homes and travel ranges from local to no more than 50 miles away from Terre Haute. Volunteers may perform as needed, possibly monthly at a local nursing home, or weekly/bi-weekly for a patient if a patient requests a regular music volunteer. Contact Heather Warner MSW, LSW, VC for instruction on how to apply.
