Kids Against Hunger is a free monthly community lunch day for anyone that would like to eat. The idea is to feed those that are in need and at the same time bring together people from all walks of life. Food will be provided from local restaurants and bakeries and prepared at Academy for Learning. The purpose of this project is to highlight the fight against hunger while feeding those in need and helping to connect them with resources.
Kids Against Hunger is a youth-led community feeding program held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. This is ideal for students who need volunteer hours. Duties include: Light Cleaning, help serve food, preparing the serving stations, creating signs

Mission Statement
Academy for Learning and Character Development (ALCD) is a non-profit 501(c3) organization located in Huntsville, Alabama. The mission of ALCD is to provide a safe, affordable high quality child care in a developmentally appropriate environment for disadvantaged preschool and school age children.
Description
Under the leadership of ALCD founder and director Dr. Sylvia Collins, ALCD provides stimulating early care and an educational experience which promotes each child’s individual social/emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our goal is to support children’s desire to be life-long learners. ALCD assists low-income parents by providing services based on the family’s ability to pay. Children from battered homes, veterans, and homeless families are admitted into our program free of charge. We offer our services to the community so that parents can obtain meaningful careers and further their education. ALCD works to prepare economically disadvantaged students for successful school entry.
