PIN values our animals' physical and behavioral health. The Volunteer Enrichment Coordinator will enable PIN to provide a higher standard of care to our animals while they await their forever homes.

About

Role Impact
Protect the behavioral health of animals at Pets in Need (PIN) while they await their forever homes. Shelter animals spend at least 22 hours per day in their kennels without enough activities. Environmental enrichment helps them present their best selves to potential adopters, thereby reducing wait time until adoption-and each emptied kennel allows PIN to save an additional animal life.

Position Description

Onsite: 1-2 hours on 5 days per week

-Report to Pets in Need’s Canine Trainer, Ashby Cogan

-Implement physical facility adjustments as determined by PIN’s Quality of Life Committee

-Oversee preparation and delivery of environmental enrichment to PIN’s adoptable animal population as determined by PIN’s QOL Committee

Canine: puzzle feeding, outdoor scents

Feline: puzzle toys, hiding boxes

-Manage donated enrichment items and materials

Remote: 1-2 hours on 5 days per week

-Recruit, train, schedule, and oversee frontline Enrichment Volunteers

Time Commitment: 20 hours per week, 9-month commitment
