Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak
Mentor2.0 matches students from Atlas Preparatory School with college-educated mentors in the Colorado Springs community, providing the students with support and guidance through their high school career to prepare them for college and the workforce.
The majority of the mentorship program is done over a secure online platform (iMentor), as a "pen pal mentorship" - this allows for busy professionals to flex their time-investment around their schedules.
In addition, there are monthly events for in-person mentoring hosted at Atlas Preparatory School and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age and have the equivalent credit hours of a two-year degree.
Volunteers must also be willing to commit to the program for four years, as we try to make matches from freshman year through graduation - we want the students to have an example of consistency and commitment in their lives.
Please consider volunteering! Right now, we are trying to finish matching the students of the current freshman class, and we still need about 15 volunteer mentors to achieve that goal. These remaining students have been waiting all school year for a mentor to come alongside them.
Also, starting in the spring / summer, we will begin campaigning to recruit mentors for the upcoming freshman class. We estimate that we will need about 120 - 140 volunteers to achieve that goal. If you know of anyone who may be interested in volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a mentor to a high school student, please make them aware of this opportunity.
