About

About
Neighborly Care Network began in 1966, when a group of concerned citizens started discussing the needs of a growing senior population. The Neighborly Center, Inc. was chartered that year as a nonprofit agency, with a mission of studying and fulfilling the needs of seniors in Pinellas County, Florida.

In 1968, Neighborly started the first federally funded Meals on Wheels program in the United States. At that time, approximately 100 elderly in St. Petersburg received the meals daily. Today, approximately 1,200 frail, homebound seniors in Pinellas County receive nutritious meals daily through the Neighborly Care Network Nutrition program.

Also in 1968, Neighborly opened the first Adult Day Care Center in the nation in St. Petersburg, serving eight clients. Today, we have two Adult Day Care Centers, and the program serves more than 300 seniors in Pinellas County.

Volunteer Opportunities
Neighborly Care Network offers a variety of flexible volunteer opportunities to meet and make new friends with seniors, sharing knowledge and life experiences.

For 48 years, Neighborly Care Network has helped seniors to remain independent, living in their homes. Without the help of thousands of dedicated volunteers, we would be unable to help those in need.

All volunteers are fully trained, free of charge. Time commitments and locations vary, depending upon the type of volunteer work performed.

Knowing that you can make a difference in someone's life is a wonderful feeling. No matter how much time you are able to give per year -- one hour or 100 hours -- your contributions are important, appreciated and necessary to those we serve.
