The Longest Day Chair serves as the volunteer leader for the strategy and execution of
The Longest Day and works in conjunction with a Chapter Staff Partner. The Chair & Co-Chair work together to help recruit an effective Volunteer Committee focused on raising revenue, increasing
awareness and promoting the concept and activation of The Longest Day.
Responsibilities:
* Start or join a team for The Longest Day.
* Participate in an initial kickoff meeting.
* As the intermediary for Volunteer Committee members, work directly with the Chapter Staff
Partner.
* Schedule and facilitate monthly meetings or conference calls with Volunteer Committee members.
* Assist Volunteer Committee members in selecting a position that best fits their talents.
* Communicate regular updates from the Volunteer Committee to the Chapter Staff Partner.
* Assist in team recruitment.
* Provide support and recognition to Team Captains.
* Convene a debrief meeting and organize a post-event celebration for Volunteer Committee
members.
* Share feedback and ideas with chapter staff to move The Longest Day forward

Description
The New Mexico Chapter serves Alzheimer’s families around the state through support groups, a statewide Helpline, information kits, resource information, training workshops, education conferences, health fairs, quarterly newsletters, Project Lifesaver, a respite reimbursement program and advocacy.
These services are supported through special events such as The Walk to End Alzheimer's, private donations from individuals, corporations and foundations, and through the State of New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department.
