About

Boley Centers Youth Employment Program began over 13 years ago with the City of St. Petersburg funding the Summer Youth Intern Program. The program helped provide young people in high school and college the opportunity to earn much needed funds, teaching them valuable work skills and work ethics. The success of the program led the City to fund the After School Youth Employment Program which works with high school interns within the City of St. Petersburg. In 2016, the Juvenile Welfare Board added a third sector of the program that operates throughout the entire year and covers all of Pinellas County. Collectively the three programs have the capacity to serve 335 young people and their families.

Summer Youth Intern Program
Funded by the City of St. Petersburg, serving youth ages 16 - 21 who live in the city limits. The program is 8 - 10 weeks long between June and August and the interns work 30 hours per week. This year the program is serving 145 interns.

After School Youth Employment Program
Funded by the City of St. Petersburg, serving youth ages 14 - 18 who live in the city limits. The interns work 15 hours per week after school and on the weekend. The program operates throughout the school year and serves approximately 40 interns.

JWB Youth Employment Program
Funded by the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, serving Pinellas County School System students ages 15 through graduation. The program operates throughout the entire year and has a capacity of 150 youth. The interns work up to 15 hours per week during the school year and up to 30 hours per week during the summer break.

Boley Centers JWB YEP works with employers of all sizes, from large corporations such as Ceridian to franchises such as McDonald’s and Taco Bell, as well as independent entrepreneurs. The program presents a winning situation for these employers and the youth. Employers benefit when they employ JWB YEP Interns because they get willing workers at only $4.10 per hour. The balance of their wages is paid by the grants along with workers’ compensation and employee taxes. In addition to income, the interns gain experience, improved self-esteem and an understanding of how education impacts professional choices. Employing YEP Interns helps our community.

Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunities are available for volunteers to assist youth with tutoring and prepping for SATs and ACTs, as well as resume building, mock interviewing, and job skills training.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pinellas and Pasco Counties (RSVP) is to create meaningful opportunities for persons 55 years of age and above to participate more fully in the life of their community through volunteer service.

Description

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 years and over. You can use the skills and talents you’ve learned over the years, or develop new ones while serving in a variety of volunteer activities within your community.

We strengthen the communities we serve by addressing identified significant local needs, such as homelessness, food insecurity, aging in place for seniors, children in welfare and safety programs, and veterans and military families. RSVP takes the guesswork out of volunteering by partnering with a variety of nonprofit agencies in Pinellas and Pasco Counties to help you find the right fit for your volunteer service. You choose where, when, and how often you want to spend your time!

Benfits of RSVP include: mileage reimbursement for travel to and from your volunteer station, accident and personal liability insurance, small death benefit while performing volunteer duties, volunteer recognition events, socialization with peers, and personal growth. Oh, and did we mention, the ability to make a lasting difference on those in need?
