BBB Serving Coastal Carolina is currently recruiting arbitrators for our Dispute Resolution and BBB Autoline Programs for the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, New Hanover, Pender, Robeson, Sampson and Williamsburg.
Our Dispute Resolution Program provides binding arbitration for complaints that could not be resolved through our initial complaint conciliation process. Our BBB Autoline Program, which is administered nationally by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, provides arbitration for disputes involving motor vehicles that qualify under State Lemon Laws. Arbitration hearings are conducted during the work day at the BBB offices in Conway, and take approximately two hours.
All arbitrator candidates must complete training before becoming certified to conduct hearings. There is no charge for the training which will be held in March 2018. Becoming certified is dependent upon completion of a series of web-based training modules, participation in a series of 4 conference calls, and passing a written assessment at the end of the training. Each conference call will require preparation and there are several exercises which form a part of the course. In total, the training can be completed within 15 hours over a two-week period (approximately 5 hours of this time is spent in self-study).
