Looking for an opportunity to get directly involved with sustainability, social equity, and material re-use while expanding upon existing skill sets and/or developing new ones? Well, look no further!
ReBuilding Center works to inspire people to discover and value existing resources (this means your time and ambitions, too!) in order to strengthen the social and environmental vitality of local communities. Since 1998 Rebuilding Center has been a resource for individuals and start-up organizations alike to turn ideas into reality.
We move about 8 tons of salvaged building materials through our doors on a daily basis. These items are put on sale to the community for a deep discount to provide our revenue stream that goes right back into the communities around PDX in the form of job-skill development, carpentry classes, consultation and organizational development, sustainability advocacy, education, and so much more. We exist to be a reflection of the needs and brilliant ideas of our neighbors here in Portland.
Attend an orientation (M-F @ 9:30am and Sat. @ 3pm) to learn a touch more about what we do, how we do it, and who we do it with and for! From there, you are free to dive right into our world in whatever way you find valuable for you! You can get started immediately by visiting www.rebuildingcenter.org/volunteer to complete a short application and select an orientation date.

About ReBuilding Center
Location:
3625 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97227, US
Mission Statement
ReBuilding Center builds community resilience in the Portland region by ensuring access to affordable reclaimed home improvement materials, reuse education, and repair skills so people can be self-sufficient and reduce waste.
Description
ReBuilding Center is a climate justice organization on a mission to make reuse and repair accessible to all as a means to reduce waste, end overconsumption, and empower homeowners and renters by making better use of our existing resources.
We know that the ability to perform home repairs is one of the key factors in keeping people safe in their homes and resilient in the face of climate change, especially people living with low incomes. We also know that a tremendous amount of useful building and construction materials fill up our landfills every year. We connect this material to the people who need it, and teach folks how to repair instead of replace.
