Horn of Africa Voluntary Youth Committee

Dear prospective board member,

We are recruiting and looking for Board of Directors that can help us our mission of improving the quality live of the underserved communities in U.S.A and Africa more specifically health , humanitarian assistance and disaster relief! We are in need of resourceful, energetic individuals who are excited about our goal of promoting to address primarily the needs of the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, and help fight against health disparities through education and community empowerment. Being a board member is not a glamorous position but it is essential for HAVOYOCO’s success. The Board of Directors is responsible for the organization’s financial well-being and accountability, ensuring that our activities are consistent with our mission, and the oversight of the organization. As a board member, you are expected to promote the organization and help with fundraising and other assigned tasks. However, the board is not responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization.

The board meets twice a year, and you will also be expected to participate in other occasional activities such as fundraisers, board subcommittees, participation in email discussions, and board retreats when they occur. Board members are strongly encouraged to make a one year commitment, as this helps us ensure an experienced and capable board.

Prospective board members should start by attending and participating in at least one board meeting. There is also an application that should be filled out and sent to admin@usahavoyoco.org and application form will be sent upon request. All applicants will be notified within one month of receiving your application. You may be accepted, rejected, or asked to attend more board meetings first.
