KWA provides multi-cultural human services through education, socialization, advocacy and support

Description

Overview

KWA began in 1972 as a social club for Korean women married to American servicemen at the Fort Lewis Army base and McChord Air Force Base. To battle the feeling of isolation, they came together to begin outreach services to other Koreans in need across Pierce County. Soon the club was providing driving lessons, translation, transportation and assistance to domestic violence victims.
Since then, KWA has expanded services to 11 Western Washington counties, employing 1,200 employees to serve diverse needs for over 150,000 people each year including:

  • In-home care
  • Immigration and Naturalization
  • Health Screenings
  • Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Counseling
