- Purpose of PositionThe volunteer will learn how to take skills s/he may have acquired in school or elsewhere related to his/her particular areas of interest, and apply them in a professional setting.
- The Volunteer will assist the KWA with a wide range of projects related to business management, administration and operations. This volunteer work is designed to be both educational and practical.
- Will help with:
- Filing documents;
- Preparing paper work for new hire orientations;
- Answering multi-line phone system;
- Compilation of data for reports;
- Copying and faxing;
- May help with some recruitment steps; and
- General office duties

Description
Overview
KWA began in 1972 as a social club for Korean women married to American servicemen at the Fort Lewis Army base and McChord Air Force Base. To battle the feeling of isolation, they came together to begin outreach services to other Koreans in need across Pierce County. Soon the club was providing driving lessons, translation, transportation and assistance to domestic violence victims.
Since then, KWA has expanded services to 11 Western Washington counties, employing 1,200 employees to serve diverse needs for over 150,000 people each year including:
- In-home care
- Immigration and Naturalization
- Health Screenings
- Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Counseling
- Domestic Violence Shelter
- Affordable Housing
