Walk to Defeat ALS(r)-raising funds and awareness to fight ALS:
SHIFT TIMES and ASSOCIATED TASKS (choose early or late shift):
Early 6:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Set Up: Arrive extra early and assist with unloading supplies, sign building, and setting up tables. Place signs, hang banners. Get tents ready by setting up tables and tablecloths. May need to lift up to 50 pounds.
Volunteer Coordinator: Sign in and provide nametags to all volunteers, provide information on dutie; remind to turn in nametag, initial out, log total hours, and obtain goody bag before leaving.
Registration/Check-in: Meet, greet and sign-in participants (walkers). Collect pledges.
Parking: Direct parking.
Greeters /Cheerleading: Welcome and direct Walkers. Cheer on participants.
Later 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Greeters /Cheerleading: Welcome and direct Walkers. Cheer on participants.
Monitoring: Lead walkers. Monitor route. Follow walkers and pick up signs.
Water Station: Staff water station.
T-Shirts: Hand out t-shirts to qualified Walkers. Will be informed of qualifications.
Memorial Station: Assist participants decorating shoe lanyards and/or We Walk For banners.
Team Tent: Staff tent; help decorate team tent winner; arrange snacks.
Kidzone: Face-painting and other children’s activities.
Advocacy: Encourage people to sign petitions and become advocates. Sell adult and child-sized wristbands ($1)and refrigerator magnets ($5).
Photography/Videography: Capture those "Kodak" moments with still photos or videography! Professional or educational background requested. Photos to be uploaded in a single file folder within the week.
Tear Down/Clean Up: Help pack up event (fold chairs and tables, take down tents, strip tables of cloths and skirts, etc.) and load van; site must be left clean. Lift up to 50 pounds.
