Walk to Defeat ALS(r)-raising funds and awareness to fight ALS.

Simply send me your name, contact information (address, phone #), and age. If you have a preferred task, please let me know; otherwise, we’ll be happy to assign!

EVENT DATE: Saturday, March 3 rd

LOCATION: Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL

EVENT TIME: 9:00 AM Check-In, 10:00 AM Walk begins

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

Early Set Up: Approximate Shift Times: 6:30 AM - 9:30 AM
Arrive extra early and assist with unloading supplies, sign building, and setting up tables in specified areas. May need to lift up to 20 pounds.

Second Shift Set Up: Approximate Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Place signs and hang banners. Get tents ready for Walkers by setting up tables and tablecloths.

Maintenance/Runner: Approximate Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Crucial to a smoothly run event! Requires flexibility: does a tent need extra chairs; does a rest stop need more water?

Registration/Check-in: Approximate Shift Times: 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Meet, greet and sign-in the participants (walkers). Responsibility of collecting pledges from participants. A GREAT location for groups of volunteers!

T-Shirts Approximate Shift Times: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Hand t-shirts to qualified Walkers. Will be made aware of "t-shirt rules."

Greeters/Hospitality: Approximate Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Welcome Walkers, answer questions, point people in the right direction. Need to be friendly and cheerful.

Route Monitoring/Cheerleading: Approximate Shift Times: 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Cheer on participants and provide refreshments. Assist in keeping the area clean and stocked. A GREAT location for groups of volunteers!

Advocacy: Approximate Shift Times: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Encourage people to sign petitions and become advocates themselves. Could be out mingling and recruiting signatures or behind a table answering questions about the disease.

Photography/Videography: Approximate Shift Times: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Shutterbugs needed to capture those "Kodak" moments! Professional or educational background in photography requested. Digital Videographers also needed. Photos to be uploaded within the week.

Kidzone: Approximate Shift Times: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Fun-loving volunteers to handle face-painting and other children’s activities. Need to enjoy children and be willing to get a little messy!

Tear Down/Clean Up: Approximate Shift Times: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Help pack up the event and load up cars/vans. Site must be left clean. Be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
