ORGANIZATION: SPARC Hope

At SPARC Hope our purpose is to provide support, encouragement and guidance to single parents in the pursuit of identifying life choice options that enhance their opportunities for career advancement and independence.

One of the biggest monthly expense for parents is grocery & household goods shopping, so here at SPARC Hope we try to alleviate as many of those costly expenses as possible for our clients and their families.

One way we do this is by offering each client a shopping day in our pantry once a month to offset the cost of their grocery expenses. Our pantry includes almost everything your local small grocery would carry. In addition to volunteer working in the pantry, donations are always welcome.

How can you help?

Food Pantry Coordinator- We are looking for one person who wants to "own" our pantry. That is familiar with everything we need to do to keep our pantry up, running and up to code. Who wants to train volunteers, etc. This person would work directly with staff.

This includes:

  • Take Dare to Care training and be responsible for keeping the pantry up to code and running smoothly
  • Train pantry volunteers
  • Coordinate Pantry Delivery days (2nd & 4th Tuesdays between 10:30am - 1:00pm)
  • Backup Dare to Care pickup driver, if applicable
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of food drives
  • Creating a weekly panty needs list for our supporters

In addition to be knowledgeable and ability to do all the below

  • Taking inventory of incoming donations
  • Coding and organizing donations
  • Stocking shelves
  • Pulling all food items the month before expiration
*Note- on occasion, there will be "physical labor" such as lifting boxes of canned goods or other items. This is not an everyday thing and we do have other staff and volunteers in throughout the week if you are not able to do so.

We would love to give you a tour of the center and explain a little more about what we do and how you can help us with our mission.
