Art & Creativity for Healing, Inc. has worked with over 10 Homeless shelters doing our Art4Healing Workshops and these families found a new way to say things that they have no words for related to the adverse circumstances to their lives. We package small, portable art kits that include 6 items: sketch pads, colored pencils, sharpeners, journals, pencils, and markers. Historically, Art & Creativity for Healing, Inc. began giving away Healing Art Boxes for economically disadvantaged children throughout Orange and San Diego Counties in 2009. Since then, we have given away 9,600 art bags and art boxes to: OC Rescue Mission, Someone Care's Soup Kitchen, American Family Housing, Project Hope Alliance, Illumination Foundation, Skyview Elementary, Rosie's Garage, Thomas House Shelter, Orangewood, FaCT Orange County, and more. We giveaway art kits at non-holiday times of the year to inspire creativity all year around. We are looking for families to help us assemble (and optional delivery of) 250 art kits for these homeless shelters in our community at large. This project is good for kids 10 years old and up. All voluntEARs will be required bag the supplies and add a bow. At the beginning of the volunteer project, our Founder and Executive Director, Laurie Zagon, will present the mission of Art & Creativity for Healing, along with a fun and easy art workshop so that all volunteers will be familiar with the method that gives pain a voice.
How This Helps Our CommunityThis project will culminate in gifting 250 art kits to homeless shelters in Orange, San Diego, and Los Angeles Counties. Through this project, we hope our VoluntEARs will learn more about how Art & Creativity for Healing, Inc. provides our community at large with our Art4Healing Workshops. Through experiencing and participating in a fun art workshop, they can get first-hand experience how art can be healing for individuals of all demographics. For many of these children at homeless shelters, they have never had art supplies in their possessions. We hope that the families who help assemble these art kits understand how they are changing lives through art.

Mission Statement
Supporting emotional healing through art and creative expression for those living with pain, grief, fear or stress https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnHID1Ph7p8
Description
Art & Creativity for Healing facilitates Art4Healing workshops for children and adults suffering from abuse, illness, grief or stress on-site, at hospitals, and non-profit facilities. Art & Creativity for Healing has often been referred to as a "hybrid" program--a mix of artistic development and expression coupled with a creative healing model that compliments traditional talk therapies with a unique approach.
Art & Creativity for Healing was founded in 2000, with a vision that the creative process and emotional healing often intersect when words are not adequate, and pain is too deep. Our methods enable participants to learn a new way of communicating through color that encourages emotional breakthroughs and further enhances the therapy process. Unlike other art programs that employ a loose format of free expression, our curriculum contains strictly guided exercises (guided by our trained facilitators) and is designed to elicit emotional responses.
By the close of this year, we will have directly fostered transformational change in more than 90,000 children, women and families who have found our creative intervention a valuable tool to address the often unbearable pain in their lives. With more than 40 Orange County non-profit program partners, we have created an effective methodology for reaching people in pain.
