ORGANIZATION: Break the Silence against Domestic Violence

BTS RETREAT

Event Coordinator


Locations : San Diego, CA, Colorado Springs, CO

Hours : 5-10 hours per week

The Events Coordinator be the main point of contact for all "outside" fundraising and advocacy events in partnership with Break the Silence against Domestic Violence. Due to the high interest of supporters expressing interest in hosting events and/or "sister" events within BTS, this Coordinator will ensure all events are tracked, promoted, and will also ensure all events are equipped with the right BTS materials (i.e. programs, cards, etc).

Responsibilities:

  • Locating and booking speaking engagements in your area
  • Locating local events in the community and nationally where we could advocate for BTS
  • Hosting vendor tables at local and national events for BTS
  • Serve as a local area representative for sisterhood and survivor events
  • Host community fundraisers and awareness events to support our national programs
  • Serve as liaison to community and regional organizations that can contribute to the mission and goals of BTS.
  • Having direct correspondence with our volunteer coordinator team to keep them updated on upcoming events and to supply volunteers if needed
  • Provide on-site event coordination with set up ad break down of event if needed
  • Delegating tasks to volunteers for event preparation, during event, and event completion and follow up

Requirements:

  • Previous event coordinating experience preferred
  • Degree in related field: Communication, Psychology, Marketing, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to commit 5-10 hours per week to volunteering
  • Prior knowledge about domestic violence prevention, awareness, and dealing with crisis preferred.
