Hello All:
Are you looking to make a real and lasting difference in someone's life - and in your own? Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM) trains volunteers to provide free, individualized and confidential tutoring to adults in Basic Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
LVM tutors are dedicated, patient, flexible and encouraging volunteers who create a comfortable and affirming environment where adults can learn. With improved skills, students are more equipped to pursue their learning and life goals.
The first step to becoming a tutor is to attend an information session. Please contact us directly to arrange a meeting: ellen@lvm.org or 617.367.1313.
Once you’ve attended an info session, you can register for our ESOL or Basic Literacy tutor training. Each training consists of six 3-hour sessions. We ask volunteers to tutor for 2 hours a week for 9-12 months.
The dates for our upcoming tutor trainings are:
ESOL TRAINING: January 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30, 2020 (6 to 9 pm)
Location will be shared at information session.
BASIC LITERACY TRAINING:January 22, 27, 29 and February 3, 5, 10, 2020 (6 to 9 pm)
Location will be shared at information session.
We look forward to meeting you. In the meantime, please reach out with any questions.
Best wishes,
Ellen, Boston Coordinator

Mission Statement
Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM) believes in the power of literacy to transform lives and communities. Since 1972, LVM has trained volunteer tutors to provide free, confidential and individualized tutoring to adults in basic reading and writing, and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
Description
LVM volunteers help adults acquire the literacy and English language skills that empower them to realize their goals. By improving their basic skills through tutoring, adults are better able to meet life's challenges, be self-sufficient, provide for their families, help their children with homework, read a daily newspaper, enjoy more independence and gain self-confidence.
