mentor2.0
This program is a partnership between Atlas Preparatory School in Colorado Springs CO, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak.
Mentor2.0 matched high school students from Atlas Preparatory School with college-educated mentors in the Colorado Springs community, providing the students with support and guidance through their high school career to prepare them for college and the workforce.
The majority of the mentorship is done over a secure online platform (iMentor), as a "pen pal mentorship" - this allows for busy professionals to flex their time-investment around their schedules.
In addition, there are monthly events for in-person mentoring - hosted at Atlas Preparatory School and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age and have the equivalent credit hours of a two-year degree. Volunteers must also be willing to commit to the program for four years, as we try to make match relationships that will begin freshman year and continue through graduation. We want the students to have an example of consistency and commitment in their lives.
Presently, we (BBBS Pikes Peak) are in need of volunteers to match the remaining freshman students who are each waiting for a mentor. We have about 15 students who have been waiting throughout the school year to be matched with a mentor. Please consider volunteering today.
In addition, we will begin recruiting for mentors for the upcoming freshman class in the spring. For that class, we will potentially need 120 - 140 mentors.
Finally, if you know of anyone else who may be interested in potentially volunteering with this program, please reach out to us!
