Owl Camp volunteers help in all aspects of our nature based summer day camp- from singing songs, to leading hikes, to playing in the creek, to crafting natural art projects, overnight programs, and more. Owl Camp serves kids ages 6-13 and volunteers can choose to work with all age groups or focus in on an age range that interests them. Volunteer schedules are very flexible throughout our 4 week long sessions. Volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and attend a one day training prior to camp.
Owl Camp is a nature-based day camp open to young people aged 6-13 (and 5-year olds who have gone through Kindergarten). Camp is located at Rancho Mark West in Northeast Santa Rosa, off St. Helena Road-- a 120-acre preserve with a pristine creek, pond, redwood forest and miles of trails all ready for exploring. Location is about 25 minutes from downtown Santa Rosa.
Owl Camp offers a rich place for children to explore the natural world, test out new ideas and experience the freedom of child-directed, open-ended learning through nature exploration and play guided in small groups by expert educators. Each summer as children work through how to build a fort, engage in a theatre production, or discover native plants and animals, they are exercising their brains in important ways-and building a memorable connection with the land in every step.
Activities include (but are in no means limited to): storytelling, tracking, creek exploration, swimming, music, keeping a nature journal, nature art, fort-building, nature games, hiking, canoeing, woodworking, cooking and organic gardening.
Owl Camp is proud to have a cadre of skilled and trained volunteers who help at camp throughout the day, so really the adult to camper ratio is generally one adult to five campers.

Mission Statement
LandPaths' mission is to foster a love of the land in Sonoma County. LandPaths creates ways for people to experience the beauty, understand the value, and assist in healing the land in their local communities.
Description
LandPaths' public outings visit open spaces, farms and parks-in-development throughout Sonoma County.
LandPaths' In Our Own Backyard (IooBY) program works with 17 schools, including many schools serving low-income students- often those least likely to experience the outdoors. Students explore and learn about the land through 4 theme-based field trips- Discovery, Watershed, Wildlife Habitat, culminating in a Stewardship project.
LandPaths' ongoing volunteer stewardship projects include: removing non-native plant species to improve natural wildlife habitat, repairing old logging and ranch roads to increase and improve steelhead spawning habitat, planting native plants, tending the community garden at Bayer Farm, and preparing newly protected properties for future public use.
