Our Outreach Manager will coordinate Forest Unlimited's messaging across several modes of communication, including our website, email list server, social media, newsletter, magazine articles, press releases, communications to public officials and event tabling. This entails working with the Executive Director and coordinating outreach with our Webmaster, Facebook Supervisor, Press Release Writer, List Server Manager, Tabling Representative, Demonstration Organizer and Editor of our newsletter.
Specifically, the Communications Director will work under the supervision of the Executive Director to determine appropriate topics and messages, write copy for the message and locate appropriate companion photos. Copy will then be distributed to those in charge of each mode. The Communications Director will then follow up to messages were actually sent.
This position will require a highly organized and reliable individual with good writing skills who is conversant with social media.
The initial commitment is for 3 months. If the volunteers performance is satisfactory, the position may change to a paid internship.

Mission Statement
It is the mission of Forest Unlimited to protect the forests and watersheds of Sonoma County.
Description
Forest Unlimited maintains the following programs:
Logging Review: We review and comment on logging plans submitted to the California Department of Forestry. One occasion, we fined it necessary to take suit against illegal logging plans erroneously aproved by the Department of Forestry.
Reforestation: Each year we organize about 100 volunteers to plant about 1200 redwood seedlings.
Urban Forestry: We organize creek cleanup and advocate for restoration of creek riparian zones and creekside parks. We also advocate for "daylighting" creeks.
Community Forests: We advocate for Community Forests grown at city wastewater plants to take the pressure off of natural forests.
Legislation: We advocate for legislation to protect forests and watersheds.
Education: We hold workshops in forestry law and regulation.
