ORGANIZATION: COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT FUND- DURHAM

  • 49 people are interested

Community Empowerment Fund holds weekly on-site office hours at Families Moving Forward, the largest family homeless shelter in Durham. This means that we hold 1-on-1 meetings with parents to help them reach their goals so that they can move out of the shelter and have long-term financial stability. Parents often bring their children with them to these meetings, which we love! But our meetings are best when the parent(s) don't have to worry about watching their children. This is where you come in!!

We are looking for a few amazing volunteers to play with the kids, on Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 pm, during our meetings. The parent(s) would be in the same room and there may be an additional free volunteer from time to time to help you play with the kids. We typically have 3-7 kids each night. The kids are fairly energetic and range in age from 3-9 years old. We have toys for you and the kids to use to play.

We are currently asking for people to volunteer every other week. For this position, you must pass a background check and go through an hour training/onboarding before you begin.
