For more than 70 years, Heifer International has been working to end hunger and poverty while caring for our earth. And right now, we are closer than ever! To reach an actual end, we need YOU. On January 5, the Super Run will be taking place in San Antonio and for every volunteer that shows up to support the runners and the race, $30 (the cost of a honeybee hive!) will be donated to Heifer International. Just by giving a few of your hours on one morning, you will be supporting runners in achieving their finish line AND directly helping at least one family end hunger and poverty. There is no easier or more fun way to change the world!

Description
We empower families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity - but our approach is more than just giving them a handout. Heifer links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Our animals provide partners with both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market. We operate under 12 cornerstones including passing on the gift, promoting gender equality, sustainability, nutrition, and more.
The goal of every Heifer project is to help families achieve self-reliance. We do this by providing them the tools they need to sustain themselves, and it's thanks to the generosity of donors. Heifer in Houston exists to engage the community in a variety of ways - in learning about poverty, in becoming donors, in educating youth and a variety of other ways.
