Do you want to run fun events for the public? Do you love the Library and want to help the public participate in programs? The library is looking to grow a team of volunteers to facilitate public programs. Special event volunteers provide ongoing assistance to the Austin Public Library with one-time events.

Volunteers are not required to meet a monthly time commitment, but will assist with special events on an as needed basis. Volunteers will help with public events such as the Adult Summer Reading Program, Million Mile Month, and other one-time programs. This opportunity is perfect for groups! Shifts and locations vary. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for more information.

Current needs:
Looking for enthusiastic volunteers interested in setting up tables and assisting in activities for a Million Mile Month (MMM) event. Setup starts at 2 pm. During the event, volunteers would help adults sign up on laptops for MMM, assist in games and activities like bean bag toss, jump ropes, hopscotch, jump ropes, etc, hand out healthy snacks and prizes, and take down tables after the event. Join us for one 4 hour shift on the following dates:

  • April 4th 2pm-6pm | Milwood Branch 12500 Amherst Dr
  • April 10th 2pm-6pm | Carver Branch 1161 Angelina St
  • April 18th 2pm-6pm | Central Library 710 W Cesar Chavez
  • April 24th 2pm-6pm | Ruiz Branch 1600 Grove Blvd
