Number of volunteers needed: 3 per location

Time/Date: Sunday, Apr. 8th 3:00-5pm AND Wednesday, Apr. 11th 6:00 - 9pm (Alexandria)

Scholarship Competition Judges will convene on Sunday, April 8th from 3 - 5pm to meet the site facilitator and for the three judges to go over the students’ scholarship applications, academic transcripts, and resumes before the Scholarship Interview Night on either April 10th or April 11th .

On Scholarship Interview Night, the Scholarship Judges sit on a panel and will interview each of the applicants for ELP I's internal scholarship competition. The scholarship winner receives a college scholarship of $500 that goes towards their second semester of tuition at any post-secondary institution. Judges use our pre-selected questions and rubric to score each applicant, and can draw on the students’ written application, resume and transcript to help guide them. The winner of the scholarship from each location is announced at the Emerging Leaders Program graduation ceremony. Judges will not need to know another language to apply. Description

Edu-Futuro is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by Bolivian parents and educators to address the educational needs of the growing Latino population. We offer programs that empower immigrant families through education. We offer: the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) which is a youth leadership and college preparation program, 9-12 Grades; STEM/Robotics, upper elementary, middle school, and high school (4-12); as well as parent and family programs. And we welcome volunteers in all our programs!
