ORGANIZATION: NAMI San Fernando Valley

NAMI SFV

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 12-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of people living with mental illness. It is a designated evidenced-based program. Research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to an individual living with a mental health condition.

We need a telephone interviewer to ask pre-determined questions to ensure people who want to take the course fit the requirements to take the class. Interviews last between 10-20 minutes.

We have a lengthy waiting list of people wanting to take the popular class. Your help would get people screened and into classes.

If you want to earn service or community learning hours, this is a good opportunity.

Mission Statement

NAMI SFV aims to build a close-knit community to support, advocate for, and educate anyone affected by mental illness.

Description

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979, NAMI has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, NAMI is an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. NAMI relies on gifts and contributions to support its important work.
