Knowbility is a nonprofit organization in Austin, Texas. Since 1998, Knowbility has hosted a hackathon called AIR - accessibility internet rally (yes, a hackathon before the word existed!). About 200 hundred nonprofits have benefited from this hackathon since then, but our lists of all participants since 1998 is incomplete, and that makes it hard for us to evaluate our impact over the years. We need a volunteer or two to go into archived versions of our web site at archive.org and help us make as comprehensive of a list as possible of the nonprofits that have benefited from this event. We also would like a list of companies that have sponsored the event each year. This is a CRITICAL volunteering task for us. This role is going to take a great online sleuth - compiling this list will take looking at old press releases, various sections of different websites, etc. A volunteer that signs up to help us would need to be a terrific and diligent online researcher, someone who doesn't easily give up when looking for information online, especially on archive.org. The data you compile (name of the organization, location - if applicable - & date they participated) will be put into a Google spreadsheet. If we get more than one volunteer to take this on, then we will divide up the responsibilities - one will work on putting together the sponsor list, one may look for nonprofit clients from the first 10 years, etc. Our goal is to not only to be able to better show the impact we have with this event, but also to possibly, later this year, contact the nonprofits to see if and how they were impacted by their participation in this event. It could also help us in marketing and strategy development in the future. Please do not apply for this assignment unless you are SERIOUS about seeing this task through to completion and have looked around on archive.org and understand how to look up old websites by year. If you successfully complete your part of this assignment, you will get notice about other assignments before they are posted to VolunteerMatch, or we may be able to create an assignment specifically for you based on what you are interested in.
