The Volunteer Leader will provide structured, consistent activities for middle and high school aged children living in the Family Residence Center. The Leader will develop, plan and implement enrichment age appropriate activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize private and community resources for the benefit of the children
- Develop scheduled, planned activities on a daily basis for the children
- Be a role model of exemplary behavior for the children
- Incorporate appropriate curriculum and recreational activities that enhances each child's experience and teaches social and leisure skills
- Maintain daily attendance for all activities
- Communicate regularly with other staff regarding children's issues
- Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule to ensure the program needs are being met
- Successfully complete required training courses
- Adhere to all policies of Metropolitan Ministries
Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Extensive exposure to childcare programs
- 40 hr childcare training and/or CDA
- Knowledgeable of first aid procedures
- Well organized and detail-oriented
- Microsoft Office Suite proficient
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to work with volunteers
- Able to work as a team member in cooperation with entire Education and Family Care Services
- Available any day Monday-Friday from 5:00pm-8:00pm

For over 40 years, Metropolitan Ministries has served poor and homeless men, women, and children in the Tampa Bay region. The Ministries has gone from a single room food pantry, to one of America's most effective and innovative caregivers. Serving 100-150 families daily through Outreach and Prevention Services, the Ministries remains committed to breaking the cycle of poverty...today, tomorrow and always. The facilities include Uplift U residential housing, a residence day care, an elementary school, adult training opportunities, a full-service kitchen that prepares 2,200 meals per day 7 days a week, and a thrift store to provide clothing for those in need and to the general public. Metropolitan Ministries also manages Compassion + Action, a collaborative that mobilizes partnerships across four counties to meet the growing need in local neighborhoods and transform the lives of families in crisis.
