Mission Statement

Suicide Loss Foundation believes in "Life after Loss." Our goal is that all survivors receive the resources needed to rebuild their lives after the devastating loss of suicide. We connect survivors to a network of existing services and seek to fill the gap when needed services are not available or affordable.

Description

The Suicide Loss Foundation is a tax-exempt 501c3 nonprofit organization. SLF was formed to fill a gap in services for suicide loss survivors. We work with partner agencies to assure connection to existing resources, but also provide free triage, counseling, books and seminars to fulfill our vision that no suicide loss survivor goes unsupported.

Nationally, suicide has impacted more than 40 million Americans over the last six years. In Michigan alone, more than 8,000 people each year suffer the devastating loss of a loved one to suicide.

Suicide Loss Foundation was started in 2016 by Bob Miller, a licensed social worker with significant experience as a leader of nonprofits. Having endured the loss of his father to suicide, Bob became aware of the gaps in support for suicide loss survivors and started Suicide Loss Foundation to insure every survivor has the access to resources to support healing.
