Are you a running enthusiast? Are you passionate about helping save babies’ lives? Are you a social media maven and a self-starter? Then we have the volunteer opportunity for you! First Candle, the non-profit committed to ending SIDS and accidental suffocation and providing bereavement support to families who have lost a baby is in need of someone to help us with our NYC Marathon team. This will involve promoting to get runners, keep in contact with our team, help them fund raise on social media, amplify our message help with logistics leading up to the marathon and be on sight the day of the marathon. First Candle is committed to the elimination of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and preventable Stillbirths through education and research while providing support for grieving families who have suffered a loss.
Description
Ever year in the United States, 27,000 babies die from SIDS, accidental suffocation and stillbirth. Through our program, Straight Talk for Infant Safe Sleep, we educate nurses, daycare providers, social workers, parents and family members about the importance of creating a safe sleep environment for babies and following the AAP's Safe Sleep Guidelines. We also host a grief line, online support groups and peer support volunteers to help families who have experienced a loss.
