At ChickTech, we believe every girl and woman has the right to fulfill their true potential. Through a variety of confidence and skill building experiences, we uplift and empower girls and women through the lens of technology. In the end, our goal is to get and keep girls and women in high tech and show them they are capable of doing - and being - anything they desire. Through service across the country, community members of all types are joining us to bring these experiences to the girls and women who need them the most.

The Career Development Director is an integral role within the ChickTech-OC chapter. This position supports and assists the chapter leadership in managing all career development events and manages the ChickTech-OC Meetup group. More importantly, this person will help meet the needs of the women in tech community within Orange County, assist in educating and developing tech talent, and understand the importance of using feedback to develop the career development programs.

The perfect candidate for the Career Development Director will be community connected, outgoing, encouraging, communicative, has previous personal volunteer experience, is passionate about empowering girls and women in technology, and is able to make a sustained, long-term commitment. Preferably this individual will have some exposure to event planning though this is not required as long as you are willing to learn.

General Responsibilities

  • Planning Career Development events and/or workshops both on the recruitment and retention side.
  • Manage Meetup group to coordinate events
  • Researching training materials, articles, and conferences to develop careers and share the knowledge
  • Willing to hustle as an event comes closer

Requirements

  • Must be able to volunteer 8-10 hours a week
  • Communicates effectively

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior volunteer experience in planning career events
  • Background in HR in the tech industry
