ORGANIZATION: Animal Aid, Inc.

  • 3 people are interested

Dog Adoption Counselors reply to public inquiries about dogs in our care. All dogs are in foster homes, so preliminary contact is via email or telephone. This position requires thorough training to become familiar with our foster dogs’ personalities as well as our adoption guidelines, policies, and procedures. In addition to answering basic questions about the dogs’ availability and suitability for specific home settings, seasoned Dog Adoption Counselors are further trained to evaluate and process adoption applications, set-up and attend meet and greets, make recommendations to the Dog Adoption Committee, and do the home-delivery portion of an adoption.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adhere to rescue adoption policies while also communicating with empathy.
  • Training is required and done under the guidance of a senior Dog Adoption Counselor. Most meet-and-greets are scheduled on weekends, but volunteers respond to inquiries and process applications from home throughout the week.
  • There is a minimum commitment of at least one year due to the high level of training, which includes shadowing a senior Dog Adoption Counselor from start to finish for several adoptions.
