Title: Volunteer Engagement Assistant

Position Summary:

The primary role of the Volunteer Engagement Assistant is to provide support to the JDRF Victoria Chapter staff with volunteer engagement processes and program development. Focus will be on facilitating the recruitment training, recognitions, and stewarding current and future volunteers. This position also includes administrative tasks related to event planning, such as database management.

Reports To:

JDRF Victoria Chapter Manager, Fundraising and Development


  • Recruit volunteers via online recruitment sites, emails, and phone calls
  • Management of volunteer data
  • Create volunteer schedules and rosters
  • Write thank you cards and procure appreciation items
  • Post volunteer opportunities on social media
  • Administrative tasks (filing, creating packets, etc.)
  • Brainstorm, research, and assist in planning recognition activities

Minimum Commitment:
Weekly basis for minimum of 3 hours for 3-6 months (or more if available).

This is a work-from-home opportunity.

Deliverables (if applicable):

  • Be an effective and helpful team player by supporting JDRF Victoria Chapter staff
  • Help recruit new volunteers and retain existing volunteers
  • Assist with pre-event preparation for the Golf, Walk, Ride, and Gala Events


  • You’re accountable to all JDRF staff and volunteers
  • You must maintain strict privacy and confidentiality of all personal information belonging to donors, volunteers, and staff that you encounter during your volunteer experience. All volunteers are subject to signing a JDRF confidentiality agreement.
  • Weekly check-in calls with JDRF Victoria Chapter Manager


  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Education Level: currently enrolled or graduated from post-secondary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfortable with basic online research
  • Ability to use social media platforms
  • Access to own computer with reliable internet connection

Desired Candidate Traits:

  • An interest in the not-for-profit sector
  • Experience volunteering in other non-profit organizations’ office and/or events
  • Administrative or office experience

Training Provided:

Training is provided by JDRF Victoria Chapter staff
