Going to the doctor can be a scary experience for anyone, specially our little patients. Our Patient and Family Guide Volunteers make their visit memorable and fun! Here's a glimpse at what they do:

  • Interacts with pediatric patients through arts and crafts
  • Gives out scavenger hunts known as "Trail Guides" and helps patients understand what they will encounter through their visit
  • Assembles and hands out prize bags
  • Greets our visitors and helps them find their way
  • Assists with general administrative/office tasks when patient flow is slow

Nemours, one of the nation's largest pediatric health systems, serves more than 250,000 children annually in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida. Nemours Children's Health in Jacksonville, located on the banks of the St. Johns River, serves children aged birth to 21 of every socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, gender, age, ability and language. Nemours Children's Health in Jacksonville serves children in northeast Florida, southeast Georgia and beyond with nearly 60 pediatric services, including pulmonology, oncology, orthopedics, ENT and more. The clinic has well-established programs for children with cystic fibrosis, asthma, sickle cell, cancer and those who are dependent on ventilators. Nemours partners with Wolfson Children's Hospital, providing pediatric consultation.

  • Orientation or Training
  • At least 6 month commitment, serving at least 50 hours per year. Adults commit to a 4 hour shift, at least twice a month: 8-Noon or Noon-4 pm shifts. Teens commit to at least 2 hours per month.
  • Need to be able to stand and walk to escort patients; friendly attitude; enjoy children! Need interview; 2 references; background check; medical screening including proof of COVID-19 vaccination
