GOT DIRT???
Growing Alliances is looking for people who want to work outside on a beautiful urban farm in all weather conditions either on a weekly basis or at intermittent work parties. Our farm is across from the Bellingham Food Bank and is filled with raised beds. We are looking for volunteers to work alongside our youth employees, by planting, mulching, pruning, and watering the crops. We prefer our youth to be in leadership positions, so we may ask you to take directions from them on how to best care for the garden. We ask that you have some experience in gardening and to have a patient demeanor with the youth employees. Background checks will be required.

About Growing Alliances
Location:
1342 Orleans St, Bellingham, WA 98226, US
Mission Statement
Empowering at risk and foster youth through vocational opportunities in urban agriculture.
Description
Growing Alliances’ Fostered Youth Employment Program employs a team of youth ages 16-24 to grow food to donate, sell and cook for themselves, while they simultaneously participate in workshops on job skills and on the history, economics and politics of the food system.
Growing Alliances is a job readiness program, so our youth employees participate in weekly workshops, which cover work qualities that employers and researchers find valuable for job security. We provide other opportunities to gain applicable skills by creating Youth Positions in the organization that may relate more closely to their interests. These positions include but are not limited to: sales, social media coordinator, film maker, artist/designer, budgeting and community outreach/marketing.
