AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Volunteer

The AmeriCorps Senior encompasses the Foster Grandparent Program. Volunteers enroll in long term, ongoing volunteer service to provide support and unhurried help to children in classroom settings. Opportunities exist in Wayne, Ontario, Seneca and Yates counties schools and head start programs.

Volunteers serve a minimum of 15 to maximum 40 hours per week in a consistent placement.
They are assigned to support specific children within their classroom setting.

Foster Grandparent volunteers earn a modest stipend for their service and are compensated for mileage to/from their service site.

Foster Grandparents must be age 55 or older, and meet income eligibility to enroll.

Wayne County Action Program, Inc. is a community action agency established in 1966. We offer a variety of services for individuals and families.

We also provide volunteer opportunities and services through the Corporation for National and Community Service, including the AmeriCorps Senior: 'Foster Grandparent Program' and 'Retired/Senior Volunteer Program'. We also administer the Finger Lakes Living Healthy AmeriCorps program.
