ORGANIZATION: Northridge School

  • 25 people are interested

Children who fall behind in reading by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school. The STAR Reading program at Northridge Elementary pairs students who are reading below grade level with tutor volunteers from our community to help our students practice and improve their reading skills. We are looking for people who would like to make a difference in the lives of these children and can tutor 1-2 hours each week.

Our program offers students guided reading that correlates with what they are learning in their classrooms. Volunteers who tutor are sure to make a lasting impact in the lives of the students they work with.

All volunteers will be trained before working with students.
Our hours are: Tuesday-Friday from 9:15 am to 2:15 pm.
